  I'm not sure how much this place has changed since I last attended about 9 years ago. But my experience at this church was not a good one. I guess you could say I "grew up" in this church in a sense; I attended regularly between the ages of 9 and 16 with my younger brother (who was 5 to 12) and older sister (who was 14 to 21). It was much more like a country club than a church. The children were spoiled and mean, the adults were indifferent, and nobody seemed to care about you unless you belonged to one of the more prominent families, or were friends with them. Four of the six pastor's children (as well as various other children of the prominent families) were routinely very rude to me and my family and we usually opted out of church activities because we felt no one really wanted us there. I'll be the first to admit that I was no perfect angel as a child (no pun intended), but I always felt that my family and other kids from my neighborhood were under more intense scrutiny because we were just poor kids from the South End who didn't have nice church clothes or rich parents. Suffice it to say that I never had any reason to use the word "snob" until after I stopped attending this church.

  Since 1986, my six children attended El Vista Baptist Academy. They learned well in academics, but also were grounded in personal reponsibility and discipline. They learned to work hard and well. Their faith in Christ and the Bible was strengthened during their time in school. I am thankful for the El Vista Baptist Academy.
